It’s more spiritual than you think...sometimes

Dear future self,
Fighting is not easy. The right training and practice can be beneficial in helping you fight well.
I am fighting for Adam. It’s a tug of war battle for him, me and Satan pulling back and forth BUT I have the authority to call in reinforcements to pull with me.
I refuse to sit and watch the enemy mess and harass Adam.
I’m reminded that Jesus tells us “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you” Luke 10:19
-May he (Adam) be transformed by the renewing of his mind  (Rom12:2)
-May he be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power (Eph 6:10)
-He wouldn’t be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present his requests to God (Phil 4:6)

I’ve been wanting to write this for a couple weeks now, but it’s proven tricky without a working computer. So, I must settle to typing this post from my IPhone.
Every time I look at the calendar and search through my journal and re read where we were this time last year, I am continually reminded that God has always been faithful.

Last February, in therapy, our counselor suggested we write to our future selves and I’m glad I did. It’s interesting to feel all the emotions that come with looking back and remembering. Feelings of sadness and grief bubble up, but yet feelings of thankfulness, humbleness and joy do too. It is so important to remember even when it hurts.

For Adam and I our story has been emotional, mental and spiritual. Spiritually is where it all started for us. It may not be like that for some and that’s ok. We realized we were fighting not against flesh and blood but against powers that lurk in the dark, against a spiritual evil. And when the enemy couldn’t take us down he tried emotionally, physically AND mentally.

If your fighting something today and someone has told you “well pray for God to take it away” or “have faith to call out the demons” or maybe someone has told you “you need medication” “you need therapy.”  Some of those things can be good, some just aren’t the tactic to fight the battle you’re in. Only YOU can stop and assess where is the best way to attack it.

Please know you aren’t alone in fighting. If you need someone to karate chop in prayer and call out those demons Adam and I would love to do so with and for you. If you don’t know where to start with medication or what it will do, Adam will be more than happy to share what has and hasn’t worked for him. Need a therapist?? We know a few good ones ;)

May you find hope
-Natasha
